Cindy Ryu Reception - Announcement Last Night

Cindy Ryu announced her candidacy for 32nd Dist State Representive, Pos #1 , at a well attended and friendly reception at Nara Bistro in Shoreline.  Ryu is the recent former Mayor of Shoreline and well known for progressive positions on labor, business, education and the environment.  She was the first Korean-American woman elected Mayor in the US.




Attending were elected officials and candidates including, St Rep Maralyn Chase, KC Assessor Lloyd Hara, candidate Luis Moscoso and many other labor, Fircrest and Business Community members.


She discussed her plans and issues that are of highest interest to her including, Transportation, Education (including "work force training), Fircrest School and promoting small business.

She is past president of the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce, and serves as Chair of the Dollars for Scholars organization. Ryu was elected to the Shoreline City Council in 2005 and elected Mayor by the Council in 2008.  She also serves as the State Democratic Party as Committeewoman.

On the Council she served on the SEAshore Transportation Committee, and member of the Association of Washington Cities Board.

Cindy and her husband Cody are owners of small businesses in Shoreline and Edmonds and raised 3 children in Shoreline. She holds an MBA degree from University of WA.

The 32nd District Democratic Party will hold it's "nominating convention" for the State Rep and Senate candidates, coming up on May 12th at the American Legion Hall. Check their website for more details -
