Cindy Ryu Campaign Kick-off - A Rousing Success

Over 140 guests packed Cindy' Ryu's Legislative Campaign Kick-off event this past Thursday,
and supporters raised over $12,000.  The event was held at the 
United Presbyterian Gym in Edmonds.

Former Mayor Ryu spoke about her backround and work as Mayor of Shoreline.
She emphasized her strong belief in strong families, quality education, the need for quality transportation choices, and helping small businesses succeed for Washington State.

Cindy was proud to welcome many elected officials and distinguished guests from all over the 32nd District. In addition to many local Democrats, labor leaders and members of the extensive Korean community also attended. Local Electeds attending included - Sen Paul Shin, Rep Maralyn Chase, Rep Marko Liias, KC Council Chair Bob Ferguson, Hon Donn Charnley, Hon Nancy and Dr. Dick Rust, and Luis Moscoso (1st Dist Leg Candidate) and many others.

Exciting entertainment was provided by local a Korean dance and drumming troupe called,  "Morning Star Korean Cultural Center" (http://www.morningstarkcc.org/);.  It was an exciting evening and great food was provided by volunteers, including local grilled tuna, by Jesse Salomon.

Cindy Ryu served as a Shoreline Councilmember and was elected by the Council as the First Korean- American, Woman Mayor in America.  She and her family have lived in the Shoreline area for over 20 years. Cindy holds an MBA from Univ of WA and also served as President of the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce.

  1. It isn't often that one goes to a political event and winds up having a spiritual experience, but that was one of the happy results for me at Cindy Ryu's campaign kick-off, night before last! Great food and conversation, plus inspiring, short speeches were followed by awesome Korean dancing/drumming. There was no way I was going to close my eyes to the dancing/drumming; visually, as well as musically, it was totally captivating. But there came a time when the dancers were replaced by sitting drummers whose rhythms called me to a place deep within, as has been the purpose of drumming in so many cultures for centuries. What occurred in my heart/mind's eye was a powerful vortex of blessing which encompassed all of us, including all legislators. Enveloped in the sound I "knew" that we will all experience the blessing as Cindy takes her place as 32nd district representative to the Wa. State House of Representatives. May it be so.
